Police raid Andrew Tate’s home probing alleged sex crimes against minors
Romanian authorities conducted fresh raids at the home of controversial influencer Andrew Tate, who is awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, searched four properties in Bucharest and Ilfov County, investigating allegations of trafficking minors, sexual exploitation, and money laundering. Tate and his brother Tristan, both former kickboxers and dual British-U.S. citizens, were arrested in 2022 along with two Romanian women, all of whom have denied the charges.
In April 2024, the Bucharest Tribunal ruled that the case could proceed to trial, though no date has been set. The brothers were initially held in police custody for three months before being placed under house arrest. A Romanian court recently overturned a decision that had allowed the Tate brothers to leave Romania, restricting them to the country as they await trial. Throughout the legal process, the defendants are entitled to their procedural rights and the presumption of innocence.
